Do you want to practice sounding out the Serbian alphabet in two-syllable words? We all know how learning a new alphabet can give you a headache, especially if that Alphabet is Cyrillic. However, it doesn’t have to be difficult or boring! I have prepared 15 printables for you that will make learning the alphabet in two-syllable words fun and easy with stickers and shape punchers.
I love shape punchers. Don’t you? You need self-adhesive colored paper and shape punchers to make your colorful stickers.
I usually make my stickers in advance and store them in plastic containers.
Activity#1 Let’s practice sounding out the Serbian alphabet
Do you wish your kids to practice sounding out the Serbian alphabet? This activity is perfect for practicing Serbian Cyrillic Alphabet letter recognition.
You will need:
initial Serbian sounds printable
a shape puncher ( I used a butterfly shape)
colored self-adhesive paper
This Serbian alphabet activity is super easy to set up:
Grab your shape puncher and colored paper, and make a lot of stickers. I used a butterfly shape as I wanted to make spring literacy activities for kids
Group the stickers by color and store them in containers
Take the initial Serbian sounds printable and place one sticker below each Serbian Cyrillic Alphabet letter
Use different stickers for each sound
Your kid sounds out the first letter, names the picture that starts with that letter, peels off the stickers, and places them on those pictures.
Print out Serbian syllables pdf and grab containers. At the top of each printable, there is a grid with syllables. Choose stickers and place them below the syllables.
Kids read the syllable, look at the images, find the missing syllable and complete the word. Now comes the fun part, pasting the stickers on the corresponding syllable.
Have your kids choose four different stickers. At the top of the printable, there is a grid with pictures. They must peel off the stickers and place one sticker under each image.
Your child must find the matching word, read it aloud, and place the correct sticker on it.
Activity#4 Reading Serbian two-syllable words board game
Kids who hate doing worksheets will love this free board game.
I love shape punchers because you can use them to turn your activity into a seasonal in no time.
How to play:
Kids take turns rolling a die and moving their counters. They must slowly read the word they land on, dividing it into syllables. You will notice that the first syllable is red, and the second is blue.
The winner gets to the end first.
